The Book of Three (1964)
Taran, Assistant Pig-Keeper of Caer Dallben, dreams of winning glory in battle, but he gets more than he bargained for when a chance meeting with Prydain's greatest warrior plunges him into a quest to stop the terrible Horned King.
The Black Cauldron (1965)
The Cauldron-Born, undead soldiers, are the most dreaded weapons of the Death-Lord Arawn in his campaign to conquer Prydain. A daring attack aims to prevent him increasing their numbers by destroying the enchanted cauldron in which they are made; when the attack goes awry, Taran and his companions find themselves carrying the fate of Prydain alone.
The Castle of Llyr (1966)
The companions are separated when Princess Eilonwy is sent to finishing school on the Isle of Mona. But they are soon reunited when the sorceress Achren tries to make Eilonwy claim her royal – and magical – heritage by force.
Taran Wanderer (1967)
Longing to know whether he is worthy of marriage to Eilonwy, Taran embarks on a personal quest to learn the truth about his parentage. He travels the length and breadth of Prydain, encountering people from all walks of life; and eventually he does learn who he is, although not in the way he imagined.
The High King (1968)
Prydain's most precious artefact has been stolen and Arawn Death-Lord is massing his troops for a final conquest of the land. Taran and his friends experience their most desperate fight and most heartbreaking decision.
